DIY Foot Soak with Herbs

Self-care has been widely discussed recently, and for good reason. To give ourselves some TLC, this year has forced us to take a long, hard look in the mirror. One of my favorite calm times of the year is to go on long walks and hikes. Exploring the outdoors with my dog provides me peace and tranquility. Unfortunately, though, my feet no longer feel serene after a long stroll, and my latest focus has been on a neglected body part: my feet!

People forget about their feet. They silently and steadily sustain us all day, carrying us from place to place, and enduring our choice of footwear. Until lately, I did not give them the kind of attention they may have wanted. As a result, taking care of my feet has become one of my favorite new self-care habits! Foot soaking is a great way to relax and decompress, whether you've been standing for lengthy amounts of time or just want to pamper yourself. Plan for times when you can sit quietly for a lengthy period of time. I enjoy doing this in the evening while sipping on tea and reading.

Soothing Foot Soak Recipe

Approximately 1 pint.

I like to prepare larger quantities of this herb mixture and store the extra in a large pantry jar. The only limit is your imagination!

Once the water is at a suitable temperature, sit back and enjoy!

Keep in mind: after a foot bath, exfoliate and moisturize your feet!

Ingredients

1 cup of calendula flowers

1 oz Lavender Flowers

2 cups of comfrey leaf

Optional Epsom salt

Directions

Combine herbs in a large bowl and thoroughly combine.

Bag the herbs, seal it, and it is ready to use.

Fill a foot soak basin with water and place the bag inside to produce a tea.

Epsom salt (optional)
